Lance’s experiences growing up give him unique empathy that he will bring to Family Court.

Lance heard over 18,000 cases in his 7.5 years as a Family Court Master. He owns a successful family law firm in Reno.

Lance believes that all people in Family Court deserve to be heard and treated with kindness, compassion, and respect.

I was a Family Court Master in Washoe County for over seven and a half years, longer than both of my opponents combined. As a Court Master, I heard over 18,000 family law cases. I consistently received high ratings from attorneys who appeared before me. I am a certified mediator with the National Judicial College. I now own a successful law firm in Reno that practices only in family law.

I was born to a single mother in rural Montana. I was placed into short-term foster care several times as a child. I saw violence at home until I was about 7, and my mother met and married my stepfather and we moved to Moab, Utah.

I earned my GED, worked my way through college, and went to law school on an academic scholarship. My wife and I are raising our two incredible young boys in south Reno.

My personal experiences allow me to be the kind of judge required for Family Court – a judge who is compassionate, empathetic, and understanding.

The decisions made in family court affect your entire life. They affect your relationships with your spouse, your partner, your parents, your family, your children. In family court, people are trying to hold on to their families and to themselves.

A family court judge needs to listen with kindness and respect, make decisions with fairness and compassion, and explain what is happening in a way people understand.
